If Circumcision Is So Harmless, Why All the Secrecy?

If circumcision is so harmless

So “not a big deal,”

So beneficial,

So ethical,

So innocent,

Then why not do it in the middle of town square?

No, really. If this is such an innocent procedure, why not set up a little circumcision stand right next to the food trucks and the kettle corn?

Throw up a banner that says:

“Free Infant Circumcisions! Family-Friendly Entertainment! Watch Tradition in Action!”

Bring out the babies. Bring out the clamps.

A little tent, a little tray.

Some gauze, some antiseptic.

A mild numbing cream that won’t really work, and a few cold hands to pin down the legs.

Let’s hear the screams echo across the farmer’s market. Let the shoppers turn their heads. Let the toddlers watch. It’s just a little snip, right? Nothing to hide. No trauma to see.

But You Don’t and you never will.

You perform it behind sealed hospital doors.

In windowless rooms, tucked in the far corners of maternity wards.

Down soundproofed hallways, where the crying doesn’t reach the waiting rooms.

You wait until the mother is tired, recovering, overwhelmed.

You lie or you omit or you call it “just a quick procedure.”

You don’t want witnesses.

You don’t want cameras.

You don’t want live audio.

Why?

Because you know.

You know it’s not just a snip.

You know the child screams like he’s being burned alive because in essence, he is.

You know that anesthesia is often inadequate, ineffective, or simply skipped.

You know, and you’ve built the whole process around the hope that no one else ever will.

If You Have Nothing to Be Ashamed Of, Open the Doors

Invite the public. Film it. Post it on TikTok. Add sparkles and music.

If it’s such a benign ritual, why not televise it like a birth or a baptism?

“Here’s little Jacob getting his foreskin removed at 4 days old — comment below with your favorite emoji!”

But you won’t.

Because this isn’t medicine. It’s ritualized violence dressed in sterile language.

It’s a cultural scar disguised as hygiene.

It’s a business. It’s a scam. It’s a lie.

And it only survives in the dark.

Until One Day, It Doesn’t.

Because more people are asking the same questions:

Why does it need to happen out of sight?

Why do we flinch when we hear what’s actually done?

If it’s such a small quick painless procedure, why can it be done in the room with the mother? Why must he be carted off down the hallway?

What are you hiding?

I’ll let your silence answer.

My final position remains clear:

Infant Male Genital Mutilation is only performed by the Stupid, Cowardly or Evil.
